Flyweight J.J. Aldrich went three rounds with Lauren Mueller, battering the taller fighter on the feet with fast hands and killer timing. She was, of course, all smiles in the postfight media scrum afterwards, holding a slice of chocolate cake (given to her by coach Pat Barry) and showing nothing but love for teammate Rose Namajunas.
Who does she want next?
“I’ll be ready whenever they call me, I always am,” she said. “I’ll just stay ready. Whoever they have, I’m ready for anybody and everybody, whenever. I’m not hurt, so whenever.”
As for her training partner Rose Namajunas not being in her corner?
”Rose is getting her stuff together, she’s travelling a lot,” Aldrich said. “She’s trying to get some stuff together. But she’s here in spirit, she calls me all the time, so. It’s always great to have her there but she’s there no matter what, she calls and texts me, she’s an amazing training partner to have, and I’m very lucky to have her.”
Aldrich advances to 8-3 and gets back into the win column after seeing a three fight streak snapped by Maycee Barber back in March of 2019. Her opponent and Tuesday Night Contender alum Lauren Mueller drops to 5-3, with this fight marking her third UFC loss in a row.
