Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Everyone buckle up, things are going to get both weird and wild.

A few hours ago, longtime kickboxing coach at the famed Jackson-Winkeljohn Academy, Frank Lester, posted an epic rant on Instagram. In it, Lester accused Light Heavyweight champ Jon Jones of owing him over $13,000 dollars from his most recent title defense. Lester also accuses Jones of purposefully getting him fired as a result of the conflict. Check it all out below:

In addition, one of the comments below the post asked if Jones was using steroids. Lester cryptically tagged Ariel Helwani and responded, “Let’s talk,” clearly implying Lester has something to say on the topic.

Jones has since replied to the post multiple times, although the comments seem to have since been deleted (or I simply cannot find them):

This doesn’t seem like the type of story to disappear overnight, so stay tuned to MMAmania.com for any further developments!

Insomnia

For anyone who hasn’t heard yet, Gordon Ryan absolutely dominated ADCC over the weekend. In related news, Paulo Miyao proved that leg locks don’t work against rubber joints.

@adcc2019 recap! Such an amazing event in so many ways! Getting to see all my fans who came from literally all over the world to watch me was the highlight of my weekend. Getting to compete along side my best friends and brother was up there as well . @tazagarami has an incredibly exciting and competitive match with one of the most exciting people on the planet @renatocanutobjj and ends up losing via points. No shame in that. @nickyryanbjj at 18 years old battles it out with @paulomiyao and wasnt behind at all technically but ended up losing a very tactical match via 1 point. This kid has like 87 more adccs so im not very concerned but i am very proud. @garrytonon gets his 1st medal after creating a highlight reel like he always does. I know a lot of people are saying our match in the absolute was fake but i swear on my family it wasnt. Me and him train everyday together and we know each others game. On top of that i outweigh him by 40-50 and only focus on grappling while he focuses on mma. I take real offense to people accusing me of a fake match since having to submit my best friend and coach breaks my heart. All i wanted to do was cry after that match. Now, on to @nickyrod247... holyyy fuck. Ive been telling people not to sleep on nicky rod and well, now you fuckers know. Hes been doing bjj less than 2 years and beat a black belt world champion and 2 adcc champions (1 absolute). Dont gimme the whole "hes been wrestling forever" He wrestled d3 for 1 year its not like hes Olympic level. @Craigjonesbjj put in an amazing camp in the blue basement and had better results than ever. If he just actually wreslted in practice he wouldve won ‍♂️ lazy Australian fuck . But in seriousness hes been a great addition to our team and im glad to call him one of my main training partners and friends. As for me im a little disappointed. The best ADCC run was performed by @rogergracie scoring 8/8 submissions. Yesterday i scored 6-8 with my only 2 non finishes being with hulk and buchecha. This to me is unacceptable. I cant thank all of my training partners back at renzos enough for all supporting myself and the team. Id tag you all but there are too many of you.

More on Dillashaw’s surgery and immediate recovery:

I’ll be honest, I love a good crowd brawl:

“El Cucuy” is an animal.

Gilbert Burns is an animal! His win this last weekend over Gunnar Nelson may not have been the most entertaining, but it was smart work.

Yeesh.

Will BJ Penn end up in Bellator or Bare Knuckle?

Cody Garbrandt’s hand is on the mend, but the former champion’s speed remains.

Slips, rips, and KO clips

It’s been a while since Diego Brandao competed inside the Octagon, but that savage is still whipping overhands across the sea.

The man on bottom really did not protect himself well at all...

Given some time, I expect we’ll see Horacio Gutierrez back in the UFC someday.

Midnight Music: Rejoice fellow Beatles nerds, for the Super Deluxe 50th Anniversary edition of Abbey Road has released. It includes a fully remixed version of the album, though frankly the changes aren’t quite as mind-blowing as the Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club remasters a couple years back. More interesting (to me) are the included demos and alternate takes, which include some fun variations and plenty of studio chatter. One that stood out on first listen of the whole release was this alternate version of “I Want You (She’s So Heavy),” which features more ragged vocals from Lennon and more varied instrumentation. His desperate singing and voice cracks remind me quite a bit of John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band, which began recording almost immediately after the Abbey Road sessions.

Sleep well Maniacs! More martial arts madness is always on the way.
