Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is hoping to stage a championship doubleheader when it brings the UFC 235 pay-per-view (PPV) mixed martial arts (MMA) event to T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Sat., March 2, 2019.
in addition to the light heavyweight main event pitting reigning champion, Jon Jones, opposite top division contender, Anthony Smith, the welterweight strap will be up for grabs when 170-pound kingpin, Tyron Woodley, returns to action against wrestling powerhouse, Kamaru Usman.
Woodley opened as the -145 favorite over the +105 Usman, according to Best Fight Odds. That’s the closet opening line for “The Chosen One” since his UFC 209 rematch against Stephen Thompson. “The Nigerian Nightmare,” meanwhile, will assume the role of underdog for the first time in his combat sports career.
Their betting line is not that far off from what bookies had for Woodley vs. Colby Covington, but that fight went up in smoke when “Chaos” — who previously held the interim strap — rubbed promotion president Dana White the wrong way (probably due to this).
The show must go on, so it all comes down to who has the bigger shovel on fight night.
