*UPDATE: Tenshin has responded to Mr. McGregor’s request (details here).
Conor McGregor continues to sit on the mixed martial arts (MMA) sidelines until the UFC 229 post-fight brawl with Khabib Nurmagomedov is adjudicated by Nevada State Athletic Commission. In the meantime, he’s been busy pumping up his Proper Twelve whiskey company and expanding his family — earlier this week he announced the arrival of his new daughter, Croia. UFC President Dana White doesn’t expect him back in the cage until this summer at the earliest.
So what’s a double champ to do with all this free time? Go on social media, of course, and make some outrageous claims. After spending Saturday tweeting about the Dallas Cowboys, McGregor is now making a strange fight request:
I wish to go to Tokyo to face Tenshin Nasukawa in a Mixed Martial Arts exhibition bout.

Before this summer.
Please arrange this, this instant.
Yours sincerely
The champ champ. @ufc @ParadigmSM
”I wish to go to Tokyo to face Tenshin Nasukawa in a Mixed Martial Arts exhibition bout,” McGregor wrote on Twitter. “Before this summer. Please arrange this, this instant. Yours sincerely, the champ champ.”
For those not in the know, Tenshin was the Japanese kickboxing champ that was utterly embarrassed by Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition boxing match at RIZIN’s New Years Eve event. Set for three, three-minute rounds, Mayweather dropped his much smaller opponent multiple times, forcing Tenshin’s corner to throw in the towel.
So what’s all this about ... is McGregor serious? Well, considering he threw this tweet up at approximately 2 a.m. local Irish time, we think he’s probably just in the midst of enjoying his new baby and probably his personal stock of Proper Twelve as well. But hey, if he can get anywhere near the $9 million Mayweather was allegedly paid, we’d say go for it, champ champ.
I’m the real Django no holds barred.
