Video: Watch Brian Ortega get pins removed from broken thumb suffered at UFC 231 (NSFW)

While Brian Ortega fought valiantly against surging UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway last month at UFC 231, the previously undefeated “T-City” came up considerably short in his first ever UFC title shot.

In addition to getting battered by Holloway for 20-straight minutes en route to an ugly TKO loss (click here for highlights), Ortega also walked away with a broken thumb and broken nose. I guess that’s what you get when you’re willing to die inside of the Octagon.

It has been nearly one month since Ortega’s loss to Holloway and the featherweight contender’s thumb has heeled quite nicely. In fact, Ortega recently had pins removed from his appendage that were inserted after UFC 231.

Luckily for fight fans interested in seeing such gnarly footage, TMZ Sports was able to get a hold of the procedure. Check out the above video player if you dare, as this is NSFW.

While this is pretty intense, it doesn’t quite stack up to this stomach-churning injury.

Ortega, 27, may have tasted his first ever defeat at the hands of “Blessed,” but the well-rounded featherweight contender has plenty of time to regain his divisional footing and lock down another shot at UFC hold. Of course, “T-City” will have to make sure his thumb is in good working order before he returns to training.
