I’m sure kickboxing legend, Gokhan Saki, was planning to hook up with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and have his way with the promotion’s light heavyweight division, but it appears his mixed martial arts (MMA) career is not going to be the cake walk he expected it to be.
The 1-2 “Rebel” was laid out in just his second fight with UFC, a first-round technical knockout defeat to Khalil Rountree last July. Saki will have the opportunity to rebound from that loss when he throws hands with Saparbek Safarov at the upcoming UFC on ESPN+ 5 event, scheduled for Sat., March 16, 2019 in London, England.
Safarov (8-2) has also struggled during his time inside the Octagon. Despite signing with UFC on the strength of eight straight wins, the Dagestani bruiser has been put away twice in two trips to the cage, thanks to Tyson Pedro (submission) and Gian Villante (knockout).
Early predictions for the light heavyweight showdown?
Also getting their hands dirty at UFC on ESPN+ 5 are Danny Roberts and Claudio Silva, while Priscila Cachoeira takes on Molly McCann. In addition, Jack Marshman fights John Phillips, not long after Tom Breese battles an opponent to be named.
Stay tuned for more UFC on ESPN+ 5 fight card announcements in the coming weeks.
