Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight title contender, Alexander Gustafsson, didn’t have anything nice to say about longtime rival, Jon Jones, ahead of their UFC 232 pay-per-view (PPV) main event last weekend in California.
But after “The Mauler” was finished by way of technical knockout (video), he was singing a much different tune, even going so far as to call Jones the best fighter in the world, regardless of what the latest UFC rankings would reflect.
Jones: “I know you’re not going anywhere.”
Gustafsson: “I’m not going fucking anywhere. You were great. You’re the best in the world.”
Jones: “Thanks man. You’re a bad man.”
Gustafsson may not be going anywhere, but it’s unlikely he’ll see another title shot in the near future. The towering Swede has two losses to Jones, along with one to former champion, Daniel Cormier. That makes him 0-3 in light heavyweight title fights.
Perhaps he can fight Anthony Smith after “Lionheart” gets recycled in July?
