Bellator 214: “Fedor vs. Bader” takes place this Saturday night (Jan. 26, 2019) at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif., with early “Prelims” undercard bouts starting at 7 p.m. ET on DAZN (free one-month trial here), while the Paramount Network-televised main card will begin at 9 p.m. ET (and DAZN).
Ahead of a historic card headlined by Fedor Emelianenko and Ryan Bader meeting in the finals of the Heavyweight Grand Prix, Bellator MMA held open workouts (watch highlights) with select fighters who will compete on the main card this weekend. Indeed, Aaron Pico got his sweat on then spoke to the assembled media about his hometown Featherweight bout with Henry Corrales.
“Yeah, it feels good honestly, it really does. It’s kind of weird because I sleep in my own bed, cut weight in my garage, I have a sauna, treadmill, everything I need. I’m so used to being in a hotel room. It’s different, but it’s just like normal you know? All my meals are cooked at home so I can’t complain.”
Pico also can’t complain about the position being the co-main event of “Fedor vs. Bader” puts him in, including what he believes is a potential world title shot with a big win.
“Absolutely. I like to have that pressure on me every fight. It just brings a different type of urgency, different type of focus. That’s why I’m so adamant about fighting tough guys. That’s just my mindset right now, I’m not worried about anything other than beating the best. I feel I get through this fight, I’m in a position to be the youngest world champion in history at 22 years old.”
With Corrales riding a four-fight win streak coming into this fight, the young and hungry Pico will have his work cut out for him if he wants to eclipse Jon Jones’ record, who became UFC champion at just 23 years young back in 2011.
