Donald Cerrone made an eventful return to 155 pounds earlier tonight (Sat., Jan. 19, 2018) at UFC on ESPN+ 1 from inside Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, when he demolished rising contender Alexander Hernandez via second-round TKO.
Despite an early uppercut by Hernandez, Cerrone dominated every facet of this fight. He unloaded everything in the tank, including kicks to the body, knees in the clinch, head kicks, combinations inside, elbows from distance, and ground-and-pound when he was able to secure a takedown. Hernandez proved to be insanely tough, but a final head kick by “Cowboy” in the second round put “Great” on his back. Cerrone added a few more shots before the referee stepped in for the stoppage.

With this performance, Cerrone adds another big finish to his UFC resume and makes a big statement re-entering the stacked lightweight division. Hernandez was likely in over his head from the second this bout was scheduled, but Cerrone still made it look incredibly easy. Look for “Cowboy” to land a big-time fight at lightweight his next time out.
