Knockout! Watch Alonzo Menifield obliterate Vinicius Moreira with right hands at UFC on ESPN+ 1

New, 1 comment

Alonzo Menifield made the most out of his ESPN spot earlier tonight (Sat., Jan. 19, 2018) at UFC on ESPN+ 1 from inside Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, when he put an end to Brazilian light heavyweight Vinicius Moreira via first-round TKO (punches).

Menifield was out for blood from the opening bell as he leveled Moreira early and put him on his back. Moreira rebounded and used his big frame to gain some good positions on the feet and in the clinch, but it didn’t last long. Menifield found a home for another right hand that stopped the Brazilian in his tracks. A few insurance shots on the ground eventually forced the TKO stoppage.

With this performance, Menifield extends his unbeaten professional MMA record to 8-0 and enters the UFC’s shallow light heavyweight division in dramatic fashion. The 31-year-old former football player clearly has serious punching power that is going to give a lot of light heavyweights trouble, but he’s going to have to work on the rest of his game in order to make a big divisional splash in 2019.
