Let’s hope Jon Jones checked with boxing’s Sharif Bogere before he decided to lay claim to the lion headdress in his new profile pic.
Lion-man “Bones” is mixing things up a bit for his 2019 fight campaign, which is expected to get underway against Anthony Smith at the UFC 235 pay-per-view (PPV) event on Sat., March 9, 2019 inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Smith, not coincidentally, is nicknamed “Lionheart” so perhaps Jones is suggesting he’ll kill the top-ranked contender on fight night and display his trophy across the 205-pound landscape.
Or maybe it just looks really cool and has nothing to do with Smith.
Wearing the pelt of a lion is most often associated with Greek superhero Hercules, who slayed the Nemean lion and donned the skinned hide, complete with voluminous mane and long, sharp fangs.
Incidentally, both Jones and Hercules are fictitious characters.
If you’re thinking, “Why is this news?” ... I can assure you it’s not. But they won’t let me talk about that gymnast who scored a perfect 10 on the floor routine (because of that stupid restraining order) and I already took a shit on Motel 6.
