Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was hoping to bring mixed martial arts (MMA) fans a heavyweight showdown featuring Daniel Cormier’s leftovers, but it appears Derrick Lewis was too tired and wanted more rest before getting back inside the cage.
Maybe his balls were still hot?
That’s according to comments “The Black Beast” made on Monday, claiming Stipe Miocic was on the table for this weekend’s UFC on ESPN+ debut, headlined by the flyweight championship main event pitting Henry Cejudo opposite TJ Dillashaw.
Derrick Lewis tells @arielhelwani that the UFC had asked him to face Stipe Miocic on this weekend's upcoming card, but he wanted to rest up following the Cormier fight.

Four fights in 2018 plus chronic back pain makes it understandable.
The Texan will instead return to action against another heavyweight power-puncher in the form of ex-champion Junior dos Santos. “Cigano” recently put pen to paper for the five-round main event at the UFC Wichita event in March.
Lewis (21-6, 1 NC), slugged his way into a last-minute title shot opposite Cormier at the UFC 230 pay-per-view (PPV) last November, but watched his three fight win streak go up in smoke by way of “DC” submission midway through the second stanza.
No question a win over the Brazilian would put him back into the 265-pound title chase, which is about to get very, very interesting if this actually happens.
