Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will make its debut inside O2 Arena in Prague, Czech Republic, by way of the UFC on ESPN+ 3 fight card on Feb. 23, 2019, a mixed martial arts (MMA) event headlined by Thiago Santos vs. Jan Blachowicz.
Joining the light heavyweight sluggers will be the bantamweight battle between former flyweight No. 1 contender, John Dodson, and rising 135-pound phenom, Peter Yan, according to a new report by ESPN.
Dodson (20-10) abandoned the flyweight division after coming up short (no pun intended) in a pair of five-round wars against then-division champion, Demetrious Johnson. Unfortunately for “The Magician,” his consistency disappeared during his transition to the higher weight class and the result is a ho-hum record of 3-3 since his last dance with “Mighty Mouse.”
As for Yan (11-1), he’s looked virtually unstoppable over the past three years. Three of his five-straight wins have come under the UFC banner, with two of them ending violently. The Russian import recently re-upped with the promotion and looks to live up to his “No Mercy” nickname.
UFC Prague will also feature the heavyweight slug-a-thon between Marcos Rogerio de Lima and Stefan Struve, while veteran flyweight Liz Carmouche tries to keep herself in the 125-pound title hunt opposite Lucie Pudilova.
