Note: Skip to 49:30 mark for the beginning of the presser.
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion, Conor McGregor, appears to have been storing up his press conference showmanship for more than a year. So when he hit the stage earlier today at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, “Notorious” completely unloaded on UFC 229 opponent and reigning 155-pound titleholder Khabib Nurmagomedov.
But unlike his past media appearances, mixed martial arts (MMA) fans were not permitted to attend. Not even the ones sporting a bottle of Proper No. 12, the new whiskey by McGregor and Co. That meant the trash-talking Irishman had to do his shtick before an empty arena, which oscillated between hilarious and cringeworthy. Fortunately, no belts went missing.
