It’s been over a year since former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion, Conor McGregor, did any sort of pre-fight press conference, and that was for his pugilistic showdown opposite Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the “sweet science,” a worldwide media tour (sample) that spanned several days (and several cities).
This time around, it’s one and done, courtesy of Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
With that in mind, it should come as no surprise to learn that mixed martial arts (MMA) fans are eagerly awaiting his combat sports return. But before “Notorious” can step foot into the cage in the UFC 229 pay-per-view (PPV) main event, where he battles Khabib Nurmagomedov for the 155-pound strap, he must first complete his media duties, as sparse as they may be.
Step one was today’s UFC 229 press conference in the heart of Manhattan (watch the full video replay here). And what media gathering would be complete without a wild and wacky staredown to top things off? Check out what happened when “Notorious” came face-to-face with “The Eagle” in the embedded video above.
