Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Gennady “Triple G” Golovkin put on an epic show for fans inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and watching via pay-per-view around the world. And while there’s undoubtedly many that feel Golovkin was once again stiffed by the judges who awarded the fight to Canelo under the narrowest of margins, it was no robbery like their first fight, which was so bad it raised questions of corruption.
That didn’t stop Golovkin from storming out of the ring without giving a post-fight interview, an understandable response to what many perceive is a finger on the scale in Canelo’s favor when it comes to decisions. The Kazakh fighter was more composed at the post fight press conference, but made it clear what he thought of the outcome.
”He didn’t win this fight” Golovkin said. “The scores don’t support that he won this fight.
“If the people want a third fight, we will do it again,” Alvarez said. “For now, I want to enjoy the moment with my family and my people. But if they want us to do it again, no doubt. He’s a great fighter but I’m a great fighter and I showed it tonight.”
With both men expected to make over $50 million off the sequel, we don’t doubt a third fight will happen.
