Heavyweight veterans Mark Hunt and Oleksiy Oliynyk threw down today (Sat., September 15, 2018) at UFC Fight Night 136 inside Olympic Stadium in Moscow, Russia, live on UFC Fight Pass.
They touched gloves. Oliynyk feinted and pressured. Hunt landed an nice low kick, and got his jab going. Oliynyk landed a lead hook. He stepped in with a combination, Hunt circled out. Hunt stepped in with a lightning straight right hand. Oliynik gave at thumbs up. Hunt landed another hard leg kick. He stepped in with a left hook. Oliynyk dove in for a single-leg, couldn’t get it. Hunt jabbed and leaned away from a counter uppercut. Oliynyk dropped Hunt! He drove in on a takedown, Hunt sprawled, but he stayed on Hunt and dragged him down! He got back control and looked for a rear-naked choke! Hunt tapped! That’s the first time Mark Hunt has ever tapped to a choke! Both men immediately gave each other respect. What a one-round fight, Oliynyk “the Boa Constrictor” came back from getting timed and leg kicked to pull out the grappling win.
Afterwards, Oliynyk said he hadn’t practiced his famous Ezekiel choke, but he was working on other chokes, presumable including the one he got. He said three or four more leg kicks could have affected the outcome of the fight. Hunt congratulated Oleskiy afterwards and told him good luck on the way up. He thanked the Russian fans for their support and got a cheer from the crowd.
