The clock is ticking! Just under four weeks to go until UFC 229 featuring Conor McGregor vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov. It’s a big fight, one that Dana White and the UFC expect will break all previous PPV records for the company. But where is the hype? The excitement?
At this moment all we have is some tepid smack being tossed around on Instagram accounts. That, and a few new promotional videos released by the UFC during UFC 228 weekend. Where are the press conferences? Where’s Conor McGregor’s latest pimp costume? What will he throw at his opponent this time? None of this can be answered until McGregor gets in front of the press, and we don’t even have a date for when that could be happening.
Reports have McGregor refusing to do media leading up to this fight, preferring instead to train for his most dangerous opponent yet. And in a recent interview with TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter, White seemed to confirm this while also promising pressers are on their way.

”There’s going to be a couple of press conferences,” he said during UFC 228 weekend. “That’ll all be announced after this fight. We’ll do this fight and then we’ll announce all the stuff that’s going on with Conor and Khabib. Nothing like [the MayMac World Tour]. There won’t be any ... we should have, but there won’t be enough time.”
”These guys, first of all this is the toughest fight of both of their careers and these guys need time to train and get ready for this fight. It’s a month away. But we’re gonna have some good stuff for the press and for the fans.”
UFC 229 goes down October 6th from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
