After coming up short in his attempt to capture the UFC interim lightweight title, top 155-pound contender Kevin Lee is trying to scratch and claw his way back into contention by taking out the rest of the top 10.
Including Al Iaquinta.
But Lee’s desire to battle “Raging Al” at the upcoming UFC 229 pay-per-view (PPV) event in Las Vegas, where he hopes to slide into a lightweight title fight if Khabib Nurmagomedov or Conor McGregor get hurt or miss weight, isn’t going to work for Iaquinta.
Who does what he wants, according to his social media posts.
“Kevin Lee is a dweeeb, doesn’t make weight, doesn’t deserve a title shot,” Iaquinta said. “Scared to bump up to his natural weight class of 170. I’ll fight him no earlier than MSG, he’s a bird and I do what I want. He’s UFC kiss ass sissy bag.”
I have no idea what that means, but it sounds pretty bad.
Lee (17-3), still just 25, dropped a unanimous decision to Iaquinta when they threw hands at UFC 169 way back in early 2014. Since then, he’s put together a 10-2 run with six finishes. Iaquinta (13-4-1), meanwhile, is 8-2 since failing to capture The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 15 crown roughly six years back.
This lightweight rematch doing anything for ya’?
