Knockout! Watch Alex Perez batter Jose Torres in the first round at UFC 227

Despite the hype surrounding flyweight Jose Torres coming into UFC 227 earlier tonight (Sat., Aug. 4, 2018) from inside Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif., opponent Alex Perez put an absolute beating on “Shorty.”

Torres didn’t stand a chance against Perez’s menacing offense from the opening bell. Perez practically landed at will, busting Torres up with vicious punches inside and out. After a perfectly-timed right hand stunned Torres and backed him into the cage, Perez quickly moved in and unloaded everything he had in the tank. Perez was relentless in his pursuit, landing ferocious punches, body shots, knees, and elbows inside before Torres finally collapsed and referee Frank Trigg stepped in for the knockout stoppage.

With this performance, Perez moves his UFC record to 3-0 and extends his overall win streak to eight. The 26-year-old took the next step in his career tonight against a top-flight prospect, so it will be interesting to see how quickly Perez climbs the flyweight ladder moving forward.
