Former UFC bantamweight contender Jessica Eye will look to continue her winnings ways at flyweight when she takes on Sijara Eubanks at UFC 232 on Dec. 29 from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, per a recent report by ESPN’s Ariel Helwani.
Eye, 32, ended a four-fight losing streak at 135 pounds when she dropped down to flyweight and defeated Kalindra Faria this past January. “Evil” followed her efforts up with a unanimous decision win over Jessica Rose-Clark at UFC Singapore back in June. The seasoned veteran has looked more equipped at her lower weight class and remains one of the very best fighters in the division. A victory over Eubanks would push Eye’s divisional win streak to three and land her on the doorstep of title contention entering 2019.
Eubanks, 33, captured a victory in her Octagon debut this past June when she defeated Lauren Murphy at UFC Fight Night 131 via unanimous decision. The former Ultimate Fighter standout was expected to fight current UFC women’s flyweight champion Nicco Montano last year for the inaugural title, but a failed weight cut and subsequent hospitalization knocked her out of contention. “Sarge” now has another opportunity to prove her worth at 125 pounds against one of the toughest female fighters in the game today.
UFC 232 will be headlined by a superfight between women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg and women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes.
