Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s Bantamweight contender, Andrea Lee, has broken her silence after an alleged domestic incident that involved her husband and mixed martial arts (MMA) trainer, Donny Aaron, went down while watching UFC 227 at their home several weeks ago.
Her statement:
“I want to thank everyone for their support and kind words over the past week. Every post, tweet, comment does not go unnoticed. My family and I are handling this situation to the best of our ability, as this is a very sensitive issue and one that as a public figure I wish was not taking place in a public forum, I respectfully ask that everyone respects our privacy at this time as we work toward resolutions and closure. I look forward to returning to the Octagon and resuming my winning ways in the near future. Competing has always been a sanctuary for me and brings great joy to my life.”
Aaron is charged with one count of domestic battery abuse and one count of false imprisonment. Earlier this week, a warrant for his arrest was issued by the Shreveport Police Department. It’s unclear at the time of this writing if Aaron has turned himself in and/or been apprehended.
Lee was victorious in her Octagon debut several months ago, scoring a unanimous decision over Veronica Macedo at UFC Fight Night 129 and winning “Fight of the Night” in the process. She does not currently have her next UFC fight scheduled.
