Video: The bitter rivalry between TJ Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt explained

TJ Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt have been at war since 2015. Here’s everything that’s gone down since then.

At UFC 227 on August 4th, TJ Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt are set to face off for the second time, a rematch of their fight from UFC 217 in November of last year. That battle saw Dillashaw take the bantamweight belt off Garbrandt with a huge second round knockout after surviving some serious adversity in the first.

But the rivalry between Dillashaw and Garbrandt extends back way before 2017. The two have been sniping at each other for years all the way back to 2015 when TJ Dillashaw left their mutual Team Alpha Male camp to follow striking coach Duane “Bang” Ludwig to Elevation Fight Team in Colorado. That departure set off a chain reaction of events that led to Team Alpha Male leader and generally chill dude Urijah Faber banning Dillashaw from TAM and leading a smear campaign against him.

In this exclusive SB Nation video, we take a look at some of the most intense moments in the three year rivalry between Dillashaw, Garbrandt, and Team Alpha Male. We doubt this feud will end regardless of how things turn out at UFC 227, so don’t think this information will be obsolete after the weekend. As we’ve learned in our past edition of Beef Wars with Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones, these beefs never end, they just get bloodier and bloodier.
