Report: Thiago Santos replaces Glover Teixeira, fights Jimi Manuwa at UFC Sao Paulo

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has asked Thiago Santos to replace Glover Teixeira in the upcoming UFC Fight Night 137 main event after the Brazilian blew out his shoulder and was forced to withdraw from the Sept. 22 fight card, scheduled for Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

I guess light heavyweight opponent Jimi Manuwa, who was lukewarm to the idea when the shit first hit the fan, has softened his stance on fighting “Marreta” according to MMA Fighting, which expanded on an original report from ESPN suggesting all systems are go.

Santos (18-6) is making a quick turnaround after his UFC 227 win over Kevin Holland earlier this month in Los Angeles. The Brazilian has won four of his last five and registered 12 knockouts in 18 wins, making him the perfect foil for the English interloper.

Manuwa (17-4) is looking to snap a two-fight losing streak after coming up short against Volkan Oezdemir and Jan Blachowicz. “Poster Boy” is a prolific finisher, having ended 15 of 17 wins by knockout.
