Bethe Correia hurt, bounced from Irene Aldana fight at UFC 227 in Los Angeles

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was forced to rework its “Prelims” line up for the upcoming UFC 227 pay-per-view (PPV) event, now that former women’s bantamweight title contender, Bethe Correia, has been injured and pulled from the card.

Since the action goes down this Saturday night (Aug. 4, 2018) inside Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif., there simply wasn’t enough time to find Irene Aldana a suitable replacement, a huge disappointment for the Mexican bantamweight.

“Very sad for the cancellation of my fight,” Aldana wrote on Instagram. “I wish a quick recovery to Bethe Correia and I thank the UFC for really trying to get me a replacement and for their good attention. Unfortunately, it was not achieved but I hope to compete in some other card as soon as possible.”

Bummer.

Correia, 35, has been out of action since Holly Holm put her out to pasture in June 2017. It was the latest setback in a dismal 1-3-1 run that started with her character-building knockout loss to Ronda Rousey.
