In June of 2017, Chan Sung Jung suffered a catastrophic setback after he ruptured his ACL and MCL, among other injuries, which forced him out of his scheduled matchup against Ricardo Lamas at UFC 214.
Approaching the end of his rehabilitation, “Korean Zombie” is itching to get back into the thick of the Featherweight picture, and he can think of no one better than to call out former UFC Lightweight champion and two-time 145-pound title contender, Frankie Edgar.
In the most polite way imaginable, of course, as he told AOMG (via Fansided) he wants a crack at “The Answer” when he returns.
“Frankie Edgar, are you watching? I guess from your point of view, you probably don’t want this fight and I guess you don’t have to fight me. You really don’t, but there’s no one to fight. So if you want to fight, get in touch.”
I like it.
Jung last competed in February of 2017, defeating Dennis Bermudez after sitting out for 3.5 years due to military duty. As for Edgar, he edged out Cub Swanson this past April.
While facing Jung makes more sense, it likely won’t be too high up on “The Answer’s” priority list, as he hopes to face the winner of this weekend’s (Sat., July 7, 2018) featherweight title fight between division king Max Holloway and Briant Ortega, which is set to co-headlined UFC 226 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Anyone feeling the challenge from “Korean Zombie?”
