Darren Till recently had some very confident statements to make about his upcoming Welterweight championship (UFC) fight against division king Tyron Woodley, which is set to go down at the upcoming UFC 228 pay-per-view (PPV) event on Sept. 8, 2018 in Dallas, Texas.
To hear “The Gorilla” tell it, no 170-pounder in the world can stop his momentum, especially not the current champion, who hasn’t competed in over a year. Now, “The Chosen One” has responded to Till’s bold claims, saying that if he thinks the bout is going to be a walk in the park, he’s got another thing coming.
Till was awarded the unexpected shot at the gold after interim champion Colby Covington bowed out of consideration due to the fact he had just undergone nasal surgery and would not be able to compete at the proposed date.
When opportunity knocks, you open it.
As for the Usman vs Covington reference, “The Nigerian Nightmare” recently revealed on The Ariel Helwani MMA Show that he had been offered a fight against Covington for later this year. Whether or not “Chaos” accepts, is another story.
Still, the 170-pound division once again looks promising now that Woodley is gearing up for his much-anticipated return. And he now he has more than enough sharks to keep him busy if he wants to stay at the top.
Up first, he’ll look to hand Till his first-ever mixed martial arts (MMA) loss in “Big D” in a few months.
