Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight titleholder, Conor McGregor, is expected to make his mixed martial arts (MMA) return before the end of the year, according to comments “Notorious” made while pounding the pavement in New York.
Probably because he’s running out of money (according to this insider).
If and when he does return, McGregor (21-3) is expected to challenge Khabib Nurmagomedov for the lightweight strap (sorry, Dustin), which the promotion was forced to strip after the trash-talking Irishman took an extended leave of absence.
But will we see the ex-champ compete in 2018?
“I believe so, I hope so, we’re pushing for it,” McGregor said. “We’ll see what happens, I’d love to fight in The Garden, but I believe this one is Las Vegas.”
That would almost certainly put his return at the UFC 232 pay-per-view (PPV) event inside the T-Mobile Arena in “Sin City,” which takes place on Dec. 29 and closes out the promotion’s fight campaign for 2018.
