When Colby Covington won the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight interim title, up for grabs in the UFC 225 co-main event back in June, he got picked apart by former middleweight kingpin, Michael Bisping, in his first post-fight interview with UFC on FOX.
Watch them get heated right here.
Bisping appeared to be unimpressed at how “Chaos” was parading around town with a substitute strap, especially when reigning division kingpin, Tyron Woodley, was healthy and ready to defend his 170-pound title.
While this longtime broadcaster lambasted Bisping for his “disgraceful” comments, it appears “The Count” ended up getting the last laugh.
“That’s why I told Colby Covington to take a long walk off a short pier when he talked shit on that thing,” Bisping told MMA Junkie. “Everyone was like, ‘Oh, he just won the belt, how can you talk shit?’ I said, ‘No he didn’t just win the belt!’ Is he the champion right now? No! Colby Covington, good luck going to President Trump with empty hands. At least I’m holding a beer, what are you holding, dumb (expletive)?”
Covington vowed to bring his interim title to President Trump.
Unfortunately for “Chaos,” his belt was taken away just as quickly as it was handed down. The promotion attempted to book a title unification bout against Woodley at the upcoming UFC 228 pay-per-view (PPV) this September in Dallas, Texas, but Covington passed on the opportunity to deal with lingering nasal issues.
Sounds like Bisping will drink to that (and just about everything else).
