Daniel Cormier and Corey Anderson just agreed to a light heavyweight title fight and hey look there’s a tumbleweed

MMA: UFC 220- Cormier vs Oezedmir Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports

Daniel Cormier is going to bank the biggest bucks of his mixed martial arts (MMA) career when he collides with top pay-per-view (PPV) draw, Brock Lesnar, for the heavyweight strap “DC” recently pried from the stiffened fingers of Stipe Miocic.

But that’s not happening until 2019 (because of this).

In the interim, Cormier will be looking to defend his light heavyweight title against the next top contender, which was expected to be Mauricio Rua — until Anthony Smith planished him at UFC Hamburg last weekend on FOX Sports 1.

Enter “Overtime.”

I blame this guy.

This latest round of Twitter matchmaking was met with tumbleweeds from the combat sports media, which I assume is because nobody actually thinks the promotion will book Cormier vs. Anderson, as The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 19 champ is just 3-3 over the last two years.

While “Overtime” did turn away No. 3-ranked Glover Teixeira at UFC Hamburg (recap), we still don’t know what’s happening with ex-champion Jon Jones, who remains in a holding pattern with United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

That said, anyone think Anderson deserves the nod over “Lionheart?”
