Volkan Oezdemir was recently forced out of his scheduled Light Heavyweight showdown against Alexander Gustafsson — which was set to go down at UFC 227 in Los Angeles, Calif., on Aug. 4, 2018 — with a broken nose sustained during training.
A few days removed from the unfortunate news, “No Time” took to Instagram to reveal the extent of his woes, and it isn’t pretty as evidenced by the photographic display above.
After getting dominated and ultimately finished by UFC Light Heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier back at UFC 220 (see it), Volkan has had a tough time trying to get back into action.
His scheduled showdown against Mauricio Rua has been booked and ultimately cancelled twice, once for legal issues while the second time the bout was nixed in favor of pitting “No Time” against the aforementioned Gustafsson. His recent setback is just the latest incident to add to his troubled year.
On the bright side, Volkan recently had all felony charges against him dropped stemming from a “bar room altercation” back in 2017. A timetable for Volkan’s return is unknown at the moment, but once he gears up for his comeback tour, there will be plenty of sharks in the 205-pound pool ready to welcome him back.
