Two of the most entertaining fighters in UFC will lock horns at UFC Fight Night 139 on Nov. 10 from inside Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado, as welterweight veteran Donald Cerrone tangos with former training partner Mike Perry, per UFC president Dana White via MMAjunkie (first reported by ESPN.com).
“Cowboy” already revealed he offered to step in to fight Perry at UFC 226 earlier this month so this pairing shouldn’t come as a surprise.
Cerrone, 35, is coming off a hard-fought decision loss to rising English contender Leon Edwards last month. The grizzled UFC veteran has only managed to produce a 1-4 clip in his last five fights, but still seems to have a lot left in the tank. While the former UFC lightweight title challenger teased a return to 155 pounds, “Cowboy” will hang his hat at welterweight for the time being.
Perry, 26, is coming off a dominant victory over lightweight Paul Felder back at UFC 226. The knockout artist displayed a new sense of patience and shot selection in that fight, which is something he lacked through his first handful of UFC appearances. “Platinum” remains an extremely dangerous out for anyone in the welterweight division so Cerrone needs to pay close attention.
UFC Fight Night 139 will be headlined by a featherweight bout pitting former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar against dangerous contender “Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung.
