Stipe Miocic rips UFC, Dana White for Brock Lesnar ‘s—t show’ following UFC 226

Prior to his UFC 226 title defense against Daniel Cormier, then-heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic, told the combat sports media he would be willing to fight Brock Lesnar after giving birth to his daughter and taking some time off to enjoy her arrival.

But now that Lesnar — and the monster payday that comes with him — has been afforded to Cormier after “DC” captured the crown earlier this month in Las Vegas, Nevada, Miocic has changed his tune on the “shit show” that transpired on fight night.

“It was a shit show and it was disrespectful,” Miocic told ESPN. “I didn’t think that was what the UFC was all about. How can you give a guy a title shot who hasn’t fought in over two years, is suspended, and his last fight is a no-contest because he was taking PEDs?”

To be fair, this happens in other sports too. I remember when the Dallas Cowboys were eliminated from the playoffs in early 2017 but went on to play in the Super Bowl anyway because they can sell more tickets and more network ad space than the Atlanta Falcons.

Oh wait, that never happened, because football is a real sport where records and rankings actually mean something! So sorry. Let’s get back to Miocic, who doesn’t understand the difference between sports and prizefighting, but does recognize the difference between a real apology and a fake one.

“It was like a two-second conversation, [White] apologized for everything that happened in the cage,” Miocic said. “I just said, ‘Whatever.’ The apology didn’t mean anything. That’s what they want to happen.”

I can’t believe Miocic is suggesting this was planned.

Either way, Cormier is expected to fight Lesnar in early 2019, assuming Mark Hunt’s attorneys don’t pull off some kind of wacky injunction. Then again, if you ask this ex-champ, the WWE import is never going to make it to fight night anyway.
