Even though Yoel Romero missed weight and will no longer be able to compete for the middleweight championship, his Robert Whittaker fight is still official for the UFC 225 pay-per-view (PPV) main event later tonight (Sat., June 9, 2018) inside United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
“I needed two hours, and the commission would only give me one,” Romero told ESPN. “I came here for the title fight. It’s not only a fight for a fight – I want to fight for the title. And the commission … made this mistake.”
“Soldier of God,” who was visibly shaken after trying to cut the final pound, only has three rounds to try to accomplish what he failed to do against “The Reaper” at UFC 213 last July, going down on points to the Aussie and losing his shot at gold.
