Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is back in action later tonight (Sat., June 9, 2018) with its UFC 225 pay-per-view (PPV) mixed martial arts (MMA) event, held inside United Center in Chicago, Illinois, with select preliminary bouts coming to you by way of FOX Sports 1 and the UFC Fight Pass digital network.
In welterweight action, Rafael dos Anjos (28-9) and Colby Covington (13-1) will collide to determine the interim champion, which comes with a guarantee of fighting reigning 170-pound kingpin Tyron Woodley in a title unification bout later his year.
Dos Anjos, 33, has produced a 3-0 record at 170 pounds since moving up from lightweight last year. The former UFC champion has looked absolutely dominant at the welterweight level and is coming off a unanimous decision win over former 170-pound titleholder Robbie Lawler at UFC on FOX 26 this past December.
Covington, 30, is coming off a huge win over submission legend Demian Maia this past October at UFC Fight Night 119 in Brazil. The brash welterweight is currently riding a five-fight win streak and will now have his chance to hoist interim gold this weekend in “The Windy City.”
