Robert Whittaker willing to fight Yoel Romero despite botched UFC 225 weigh in

While nothing is official at this very time, UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker still wants to fight Yoel Romero tomorrow night (Sat., June 9, 2018) at UFC 225 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside United Center in Chicago, Ill., despite “Soldier of God” missing weight for their title fight earlier today.

Whittaker, who defeated Romero via decision back at UFC 213 to claim the interim title (later crowned the undisputed champion), wants to finish Romero and prove that he is the best 185-pound on the planet. Even though their rematch wouldn’t incorporate the UFC middleweight strap, “Bobby Knuckles” remains focused to fight at UFC 225 and give fight fans what they want.

Whittaker’s manager, Titus Day, caught up with MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani earlier today to discuss the situation:

Considering Romero had to be carried off the scale following his second failed attempt at UFC 225’s’ official weigh ins, we really don’t know for sure if the Illinois athletic commission with allow “Solider of God” to suit up. If he’s cleared, Whittaker is game to run it back, title or not.
