Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight contender, Colby Covington, has bravely stepped forward to shed light on his past abuse suffered at the hands of ex-light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
Yes, it’s true, the fighter known as “Chaos” wasn’t always the controversial Trump supporter we see today. No, he spent most of his college years living in fear of “Bones,” who would come home from a long night of partying only to humiliate Covington with his dish-washing demands.
“He just started doing steroids and always freaking had roid rage,” Covington told The Jim & Sam Show. “He’d come home and he’d yell at me, ‘Oh what the fuck are you doing Colby, do the dishes’ and he would just like freak out.”
Covington spent two years shacked up with Jones at Iowa Central Community College, where they both won junior college national wrestling titles. It’s amazing they had time to train with all the time they spent throwing people through plate-glass windows.
“He was wrestling at 197 [pounds], he was a national champ in junior college and he was trying to move up and go to heavyweight,” Covington said. “So he thought he had to do a cycle of roids and I just lost a lot of respect for him. He started partying a lot, doing Ecstasy, doing all these drugs and the rest of history. He’s been doing them since college.”
Jones is currently suspended by United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) after flunking his second UFC drug test and currently does not have a timeline for return. As for Covington, he fights Rafael dos Anjos for the interim 170-pound strap this weekend in Chicago, because he’s a survivor.
Respect.
