Latest UFC rankings update: Marlon Moraes jumps to No. 4, Sam Alvey makes Top 15 return

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was back on FOX Sports 1 last Friday night (June 1, 2018) for the UFC Fight Night 131 mixed martial arts (MMA) event, held inside Adirondack Bank Center in Utica, New York, and featuring the bantamweight main event between Marlon Moraes and Jimmie Rivera.

“Magic” won the contest by first-round head kick (watch it), moving him up in the bantamweight rankings at the expense of “El Terror.” Also getting some love from the official UFC rankings panel was “Smile ‘N” Sam Alvey, who returned to the top 15 by outpointing Gian Villante.

Here’s how the rankings work, courtesy of UFC.com:

Rankings were generated by a voting panel made up of media members. The media members were asked to vote for who they feel are the top fighters in the UFC by weight-class and pound-for-pound. A fighter is only eligible to be voted on if they are in active status in the UFC. A fighter can appear in more than one weight division at a time. The champion and interim champion are considered to be in the top positions of their respective divisions and therefore are not eligible for voting by weight-class. However, the champions can be voted on for the pound-for-pound rankings.

Take a look at what the latest rankings field looks like courtesy of UFC.com. Note: (+/- = movement in rankings, *NR = Not previously ranked).
