If at first you don’t succeed, wait to get recycled and try again.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) flyweight champion, Demetrious Johnson, is expected to defend his 125-pound title against top contender and former Olympic wrestler Henry Cejudo at the upcoming UFC 227 pay-per-view (PPV) event, scheduled for Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif., on Sat., Aug. 4, 2018.
That’s according to a report from Ariel Helwani, who indicated that Jussier Formiga was also under consideration before “The Messenger” was delivered to “Mighty Mouse” for a second time. Cejudo (12-2) was stopped by Johnson (27-2-1) at UFC 197 back in early 2016, succumbing to strikes in the very first round.
Johnson was being pressured to take a bout against bantamweight kingpin TJ Dillashaw, who was willing to cut down to 125 pounds to add a second strap to his collection; however, that fight didn’t pan out (because of this) and “The Viper” remains in the headlining spot opposite Cody Garbarandt.
