After 67 hours of labor, former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s Bantamweight champion Miesha Tate is now a mother. Indeed, “Cupcake” gave birth to a healthy baby girl last night (Sun., June 3, 2018).
And thanks to social media, we have out first look of Tate with her baby girl Amaia. The proud father, Johnny Nunes — a former World Series of Fighting (WSOF) veteran — I’m sure, is gleaming with joy as well.
Around midnight last night, I texted @mieshatate and told her that she had 24 hours to produce my birthday twin. And she did. Best birthday present ever! I’m so proud of my incredible friend. After 67 hours of labor, she gave birth to a perfect, tiny human. I am so proud of her, to be able to call her one of my best friends, and to share a birthday with this little piece of magic named Amaia. So many congratulations to @mieshatate and @johnnyboymma ! Thank you for the messages and texts. It’s been an especially taxing week for me, but somehow you all made it better.
Tate retired from active mixed martial arts (MMA) competition back in 2015 following her loss to Raquel Pennington at UFC 205. She has still been very busy, though, especially with her online fitness training programs.
She also co-founded a management team to represent several up-and-coming MMA fighters. Needless to say, it’s safe to assume Tate will take a bit off time off from her gigs as a trainer and manager to focus on her new bundle of joy and mommy duties.
