Heavyweights Walt Harris and Daniel Spitz squared off tonight (June 1, 2018) live from the Adirondack Bank Arena in Utica, NY, live and free on Fox Sports 1.
The huge men started off with Spitz dancing around the outside of the Octagon. 6’7” Spitz landed a leg kick and thew up a head kick which fell short. Walt Harris threw a front kick and whiffed on an overhand. Spitz double jabbed forward. Harris knocked his lead leg out with a kick. The crowd began to boo. Harris landed a front kick to the face, stuttered forward, landed a left hook and a couple right hands. Harris landed a leg kick and one off Spitz’s arms. There wasn’t a whole lot of action for the remainder of the round as Harris dictated cage position.
Spitz had taken a lot of kicks to his right arm, including one that seemed to hit his funny bone, and had to shake it out between rounds. Harris threw a high kick at him. Spitz spammed a front kick and side kicks to the body. Harris landed a hard body shot, whiffed on a lead hook. Spitz looked for his right straight but couldn’t find the range. They traded push kicks to the knee. Harris jabbed Spitz to the body. The crowd grew restless, booing the lack of action. Harris backed him up with a high kick and landed a glancing right hook in the ensuing combination. Harris rocked Spitz with a perfectly placed left straight counter to a kick! The sweat was flying off that punch, and Spitz staggered back to the fence. Harris walked in and knocked him down, landing hard punches and slashing elbows until the referee had seen enough. What a nice finish for Harris, turned a slow fight into a highlight reel KO. He beat the clock by one second, ending the fight at 4:59.
Harris gave respect to his opponent afterwards, but he said if he sees you hurt, he’s coming after you like a shark in blood-infested waters. Then he dedicated the fight to his aunt who died last week, and told his kids he is coming home.
