Roughly five years back, the “Frank Mir Curse” had the heavyweight division shitting its pants. Then the former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight kingpin was shipped off to the folks at Bellator MMA and well, he’s their problem now.
But that doesn’t mean the Octagon is safe from outside influences, particularly those bringing bad luck, like late night funnyman Conan O’Brien. That’s why 205-pound titleholder, Daniel Cormier, almost canceled his talk show appearance.
Conor McGregor, Nate Diaz, and Ronda Rousey all lost their fights after rubbing elbows with “Team Coco.”
Cormier will have a hard enough time trying to beat Stipe Miocic when they collide at the UFC 226 pay-per-view (PPV) event next month in Las Vegas, Nevada, and certainly doesn’t need Conan and Co. interfering.
That said, “DC” appeared to be all smiles as the show unfolded but he’s probably just happy to be done filming season 27 of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF), where he coaches against Miocic very Wednesday night on FOX Sports 1.
