Colby Covington is basically a walking talking amalgamation of all the worst parts of the internet, so of course he’s a die hard liberal tear-drinking Donald Trump supporter. After his undeniably impressive win over Rafael Dos Anjos at UFC 225, he brought that aspect of his troll personality to the forefront to generate even more boos from the United Center in Chicago.
“I told everybody I was going to make the welterweight division great again,” Covington declared at the post-fight press conference. “And now I’m going to celebrate how a real American should celebrate winning a world a title, and that’s going to the White House to see Mr. Donald Trump and put this on his desk! Unlike the Filthadelphia Eagles disrespecting our flag and kneeling for the national anthem.”
The Philadelphia Eagles made endless headlines just last week when the majority of the Super Bowl winning team refused to visit the White House. Trump even became a topic of conversation off that incident during UFC 225 fight week with several UFC fighters agreeing they wouldn’t visit either over his controversial policies.
Of course, Dana White is still a big Donald Trump fan. Trump let the UFC into his Atlantic City casinos back in the day when no one else would touch the sport with a ten foot pole, and for that he’s got the UFC president’s endless loyalty. When asked if he could help make Covington’s dream to bring the belt to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, he said “Yeah, I can make that happen.”

As far as White is concerned, it’s a free country and you can like or dislike whoever you want.
“Listen, I don’t care what your politics are,” he continued at the post-fight press conference. “You can like whoever you want to like. If he likes Trump, he likes Trump. If somebody doesn’t like Trump, they don’t like Trump. I have a lot of friends that don’t like Trump, but I don’t ever talk to them about that. Snoop [Dog] hates Trump, badly, and Snoop and I just never talk about that, ever.”
Sounds to us like the interim welterweight belt is going to Washington.
