Colby Covington cashed in big time last night (Sat., June 9, 2018) at UFC 225 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside United Center in Chicago, Ill., when he defeated former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos in a five-round war.
Covington really didn’t give RDA a lot of opportunities to get off his patented offense. The wrestler tried to smother the Brazilian at every possible turn. Dos Anjos clipped “Chaos” a couple of times, but Covington’s strength inside and unlimited motor really showed.
The co-main event title fight didn’t produce a memorable finish, but it did feature one of the most grueling matchups in the division. Both welterweights exhausted everything they had.
Covington’s forward movement and constant pressure ultimately played the bigger role and it turned into a unanimous decision win.

With this performance, Covington claims the interim welterweight title and locks up a future showdown with current UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley. Covington continues to show up and deliver decisive results, so maybe it’s time to give him a break on his trash talking.
