ONE Championship returns to Indonesia with a card headlined by a strawweight title rematch. Alex Silva became the first man to ever beat Yoshitaka Naito last year and the Brazilian champion will need to do the same thing again in his first defense.
There’s also a middleweight bout between former champion VItaly Bigdash and former challenger Leandro Ataides that could produce fireworks. The Russian was in the 2015 ‘fight of the year’ while the Brazilian has a series of highlight reel KOs.
125lbs.: Doan Birawa vs Riski Umar
Dian Birawa will be making his pro debut so there’s not much info on him. Judging from this two year old footage he was a competent amateur and likes to throw big, looping overhand rights.
Riski Umar (2-1) is already a veteran of three ONE Championship fights but in his last outing, a decision loss to Cambodian Khun Sichan, he showed he is there to be hit. Birawa might be able to land that telegraphed right in this type of bout.
135lbs.: Elipitua Siregar vs Dodi Mardian
Elipitua Siregar (0-1) has only one fight listed but imaginatively named Indonesian promotion One Pride regularly holds events without bothering to send out the actual results.
Dodi Mardian (1-2) has at least two fights for the aforementioned Indonesian organization as well as a single ONE Championship bout, which he lost to Yodsanan Sityodtong. No way of knowing what will happen here.
145lbs.: Radeem Rahman vs Tang De Pan
A huge amount of publicity surrounded Radeem Rahman (2-1) when he became the first Singaporean to fight for ONE Championship in 2011. His career subsequently stalled and he’s only fought twice in the last six years.
Tang De Pan (2-0) didn’t have it all his own way against unheralded Bangladeshi Ashraful Islam earlier this year. The Chinese fighter won his ONE Championship debut with a slam, although how deliberate that KO was is open to debate.
145lbs: Ognjen Topic vs Stergos Mikkios (Muay Thai)
The ONE Super Series is up and running and this bout pits two European born Americans together. Ognjen Topic has fought in Thailand a few times now and been in with some big names like Saenchai PKSaenchaigym.
Stergos Mikkios fought to an entertaining draw in a Max Muay Thai bout last year but hasn’t been in with top tier opposition. He looks a bit of a brawler and Topic might be a bit too slick for him here.
158.7lbs: Eric Kelly vs Tetsuya Yamada
The decline of Eric Kelly (12-5) has been dramatic. He’s lost his last four fights and seems to have lost the ability to pull off rear naked choke attempts from impossible looking angles that was a feature of his early career.
