Before Gennady Golovkin duels Vanes Martirosyan later tonight (Sat., May 5, 2018) on HBO, former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye tried to avenge a previous TKO loss to fellow Englishman Tony Bellew earlier today from inside The O2 Arena, London, England.
Unfortunately for “Hayemaker,” Bellew got the best of him and ended up finishing the elder fighter via fifth-round TKO.
What started as a feeling out process quickly turned violent as Bellew began to pour it on in the third. He put Haye down on the canvas with a short right hand before leveling Haye again when he returned to his feet.

In the fifth round, Bellew again got the better of an inside exchange, catching “Hayemaker” and sending him to the mat one more time. The referee allowed the fight to continue, but after Bellew pressured Haye along the ropes for another flurry of punches the official had had enough and called a stop to the action.

With this performance, Bellew locks down his second-straight TKO win over Haye and pushes his current win streak to 10, which includes a 2014 victory over Nathan Cleverly. This win should further propel his already growing stock, especially in the European market.
On the flip side, we’re not sure where this loss leaves Haye. The veteran had only been finished once in his career before his two fights with Bellew, so his recent lack of success could lead to Haye rethinking his longevity in the sport.
