The corpse of what was once GGG-Canelo II lurches into StubHub Center later tonight (Sat., May 5, 2018) live on HBO from Carson, Calif., as middleweight king Gennady Golovkin takes on late replacement Vanes Martirosyan.

MMAmania will have LIVE coverage of the event, starting with the HBO broadcast at 11:00 PM ET.

Golovkin’s (37-0-1, 33 KO) rematch with Canelo Alvarez died on the vine when the Mexican superstar tested positive for clenbuterol and subsequently withdrew, ultimately receiving a six-month suspension after claiming the positive test to be a result of tainted beef. Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) shut down Team Golovkin’s backup plan to face Jaime Munguia, while GGG’s third option, Spike O’Sullivan, withdrew after the main card move from pay-per-view (PPV) to regular HBO lessened his offer.

And so we get Martirosyan (36-3-1, 21 KO), a super welterweight in action for the first time in almost two years.

The broadcast opens with undisputed women’s welterweight champion Cecilia Braekhus (32-0, 9 KO) making her U.S. debut against Kali Reis (13-6-1, 4 KO).

Quick results and round-by-round coverage below.
