Darren Till has weighed in again, and this time things went much better for the Liverpool native.
After coming in 3.5 pounds over the 171 pound limit for his welterweight main event with Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson at UFC Fight Night: ‘Liverpool’, Thompson’s management stipulated that Till would have to weigh in again on fight day under 188 pounds. That weigh-in went down at 1PM local time, and Till weighed in at 187.3 pounds, meaning the fight will go forward with no more complications.
Thompson and his team were on hand when Till weighed in, and someone sent a snap of Darren making the secondary weight objective.
Media wasn’t allowed in the room when Darren Till weighed in, however, here’s a pic of the scale provided to me by a source who was in the room. As you can see, 187.3 pounds. Crisis averted. pic.twitter.com/c1mkXoncWw

Weigh-ins on the day of a fight are pretty much unheard of, but with the lack of athletic commissions in the UK, the UFC ends up running its own regulatory affairs. That led to Team “Wonderboy” demanding this extra concession to keep Till from having too much of a size and cardio advantage from not cutting the extra weight.
Till blamed the initial weight situation on a “family emergency,” which according to Nick Peet involved his pregnant girlfriend ending up in the hospital.
Backstage @darrentill2 just said: “I offered him 100% of my purse.” Reveals pregnant girlfriend is in hospital still. “But I take full responsibility for not making weight!” #UFCLiverpool

“When I started cutting weight I got an emergency call,” Till explained. “It was a family matter. I just had to go to the hospital there and back. I only had five kilos (11 pounds) to go. Usually I have six, seven. I was running. I was OK. I was fine. And I tried to get in the sauna, tried to get in the steam, I tried to do a bath. It just wasn’t happening. I was knackered.”
