UFC releases official statement on Nick Diaz domestic violence charges

Nick Diaz is in hot water after getting arrested yesterday (Thurs., May 24, 2018) in Las Vegas for alleged domestic violence.

The former UFC welterweight title contender is scheduled to have a court hearing tomorrow morning (Sat., May 26, 2018) at 9 a.m. and currently has a bail set at $18,000.

As a result of the allegations against Diaz, which also include cocaine usage, UFC is taking the necessary precautions to make sure they know all the details of the incident. The promotion released an official statement earlier today regarding the situation:

“The organization does not tolerate domestic violence and requires all athletes to adhere to the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy. Every athlete is deserving of due process and this situation, as with any official allegations, will be duly reviewed and thoroughly investigated by an independent party.”

Remember, Diaz was reinstated by UFC this past April. The 34-year-old hasn’t fought since his bout with Anderson Silva at UFC 183 back in 2015. Silva originally won that fight via decision before it was overturned to a no contest due to both fighters failing drug tests (Silva for drostanolone and androsterone and Diaz for marijuana).

As you know, domestic violence shouldn’t be tolerated in any part of the world, especially when it comes to a professionally trained fighter putting his hands on someone else. Just this past week, a victim of domestic violence spoke out about UFC featuring former NFL superstar Greg Hardy on the upcoming season of “Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series.”

You better believe UFC is taking these allegations against Diaz very seriously and will do everything in its power to assure the proper measures are taken.
