Former UFC middleweight contender Gegard Mousasi cashed in big time earlier today (Fri., May 25, 2018) at Bellator 200 from inside The SSE Arena in London, England, when he finished middleweight champion Rafael Carvalho via first-round TKO, ending the champ’s 15-fight win streak dating back to 2012.
In a main event title fight that lasted less than four minutes, Mousasi was able to take away Carvalho’s strong striking game by taking the action to the canvas. Mousasi swiftly worked his way into full mount before peppering the Brazilian with heavy ground-and-pound. Carvalho turned over and Mousasi continued his onslaught until the referee stepped in for the first-round stoppage.

With this performance, the 32-year-old Mousasi extends his current win streak to six (2-0 Bellator), which includes finishes over notable middleweights like Carvalho, Chris Weidman, Uriah Hall, Vitor Belfort, and Thiago Santos. Only time will tell how far Mousasi can take his Bellator title run, especially with a potential superfight with welterweight king Rory MacDonald looming in the distance.
